What metadata is and what changes
Every PDF carries document properties alongside its pages: a title, an author, the app that made it and when. FynePDF reads them straight from your file, then either rewrites them with your changes or strips them out, leaving the pages themselves exactly as they were.

What is PDF metadata?
PDF metadata is the information stored alongside the pages: the title, author, subject and keywords, the app that created the file (Creator), the software that produced the PDF (Producer), and when it was created and last modified. PDF readers show it under Document Properties, desktop and document-management search uses it, and search engines often use the title in their results.
What does Remove metadata delete?
It removes the document properties (title, author, subject, keywords, creator, producer and both dates), the XMP metadata stream that many apps add, and private editing data that apps such as Adobe Illustrator store on pages. The pages themselves, including text, images, links and bookmarks, are left exactly as they were. Comments, form data and hidden text are not metadata: use Flatten PDF or Redact PDF for those.
Why remove metadata before sharing a PDF?
Metadata can reveal more than the document itself: the name of the person who wrote it, your company, the software and version you used, and when the file was first created. Stripping it is a quick privacy step before you send files to clients, submit job applications, publish documents online or disclose them in a legal matter.
Will editing metadata change how my PDF looks?
No. FynePDF rewrites only the metadata, not the pages, so text, images, fonts and layout come out exactly as they went in and the file size stays about the same. When you edit, the older XMP copy of the metadata is removed too, so PDF readers that prefer XMP show your new values instead of the old ones.
