Is Chat with PDF free?

Yes. Read a document overview without signing in, then try one AI answer by typing a question, choosing a suggestion, or running the analysis. Each new upload gets one answer, shared across tools and agents. A paid plan unlocks further interactions within its AI allowance.

How does Chat with PDF work?

Upload a PDF and ask questions in plain language, in English or your own. The AI reads the full document, finds the passages that answer your question, and replies with a clickable citation to the page it used. OCR runs automatically, so scanned and photographed PDFs work exactly like digital ones with nothing to switch on, across 100+ languages. Follow-up questions keep the context of the conversation, so you can drill into an answer without re-explaining.

What can I ask my PDF?

Anything you'd ask someone who had read it: "summarize this contract," "list every deadline," "explain page 15 in plain English," "what does section 3 say that section 5 doesn't." The AI understands context across the whole document rather than keyword-matching, so questions that require joining information from several pages work as well as simple lookups. If the answer isn't in the document, it says so instead of guessing.

Is my data safe?

File transfers use TLS encryption. AI features may send document content to the Google Gemini API to generate the output you request. Documents are not used to train AI models. Temporary AI files are deleted within 24 hours of upload; files saved to your Library follow the Library storage policy. Read the Privacy Policy for details.

What are the file and usage limits?

Free supports files up to 15MB and 50 pages, Professional up to 100MB and 2,000 pages, and Premium up to 250MB and 3,000 pages. The shared AI processing allowance is 15MB per day on Free, 2.5GB per month on Professional, and 5GB per month on Premium. Free includes document overviews plus one AI answer per document across tools and agents. Uploads also follow your task limits.

Is this better than just uploading the PDF to ChatGPT?

FynePDF combines document questions with a PDF preview, page citations, and source highlighting where the cited passage can be matched. How do I know the answer is actually in my document?

Follow the page citation to the PDF preview. When the source passage can be matched, it is highlighted so you can compare the answer with the original wording. The AI is instructed to use your document, but it can still make mistakes or miss context. Check the cited passage before relying on a finding.

Can I chat with more than one PDF at a time?

Chat with PDF focuses on the document loaded in your session. For questions across a set of files, use Compare PDF to review similarities and differences with filename and page citations.

Can I save a conversation and come back to it?

You can download the full transcript as a .txt file on any plan, including free. Saving a session to your Library so you can reopen the chat with the document still loaded is included with Professional and Premium. Your upload lives only as long as the session does temporary files are deleted within 24 hours of upload unless you saved it. So on the free plan, download the transcript before you leave.
