# ChatGPT

Connect FynePDF to ChatGPT as an app (custom MCP connector) and work on PDFs, including files you attach to the chat.

## Add the app

ChatGPT adds custom MCP servers through **developer mode**. OpenAI moves these settings now and then, and which plans have them changes too (paid plans; on Business, Enterprise and Edu an admin may need to allow custom apps).

1. In ChatGPT, open **Settings, Apps** (or **Apps and Connectors**), then **Advanced settings**, and turn on **Developer mode**.
2. Choose **Create** (or **Add app**).
3. Name it `FynePDF`, set the URL, and choose **OAuth** for authentication:

```text
https://api.fynepdf.com/mcp
```

4. Save, then **Connect**. fynepdf.com opens: sign in and choose **Allow**.

## Use it

In a chat, add FynePDF from the **+** menu (or name it), then ask:

- "Compress the attached PDF to under 2 MB."
- "OCR this scan so I can search it."
- "Pull the totals from these invoices into a table."

ChatGPT can pass the files you attach straight to FynePDF. The result comes back as a card in the chat with a preview and a download.

## When something's off

- **No developer mode:** your plan or workspace doesn't allow custom apps yet; an admin can turn it on.
- **ChatGPT asks to confirm each action:** that's ChatGPT's own check for tools that change files; confirm to go on.
- **"Plan limit reached":** the job went over your fynepdf.com plan's limits; the message names which.
